Protecting the Public

Probation works in statutory partnership with the police and HM Prison Service to protect the public. These three  Criminal Justice agencies share the duty to jointly ensure the Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements ( known as  MAPPA) are in place to manage sexual and violent offenders in the community.  The three services form the statutory Responsible Authority for MAPPA.

For further information about the work of MAPPA and the other agencies that work with police, prisons and probation to protect the public, visit www.saferlancashire.co.uk
